  • Under the general direction of the Criminal Records Applications Unit (CRAU) Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Sup II), the Information Technology Specialist I (IT Spec I) is a member of the programming team that develops, maintains, and monitors the applications, databases, interfaces, processors, and reporting tools. The unit’s system portfolio includes the Automated Criminal History System (ACHS), Justice Automated Data Exchange (JADE), and the Disposition Processor (DP). The technology includes JAVA and PL/SQL based architecture. The incumbent participates in multiple technology processes including systems analysis, product development, and maintenance activities for high-profile legislation mandated projects or routine assignments.
  • The IT Spec I’s duties include making programming changes for applications, databases, interfaces, processes, and reporting tools. An essential responsibility is coding the technology per Department of Justices, Federal Bureau of Investigations, or industry standards, especially specifications related to security. Other duties require the incumbent to work collaboratively with program clients, CRAU developers and administrators, other DOJ technical staff, the law enforcement industry, and consultants to make sure the technology meets business, functional, and technical requirements, and meets the accepted performance standards. Other IT Spec I responsibilities include problem solving and making recommendations to improve programming and process rigor.
